The company Territory Studio is based in London at the moment, there are 20 people that work within the company and it is a multi-disciplinary studio. Has worked for many films and games such as Black Knight and Call of Duty. They use lots of Storytelling through there work. Scream Graphics. They create a story within three seconds using on screen graphics.
Guardians of The Galaxy
I thought that the clip that we were shown was very nice, as it allowed us to see the graphics that they had produced, which were featured in the film called Guardians of the Galaxy. They script was hilarious and they thought that the sound track that had been chosen was very eighty’s. They had to come up with different concepts from the film. They decided to create a character book that would feature the characters of the film, where they were able to write facts about them, where they came from, there height, weight.
They also used interactive graphics, which allowed the actor or actress to interact with the information, this will allow the character there playing to understand about more about what’s happening on screen.
They had to do screen test to make sure that the graphics that had been produced was clear and visible on screen before displaying the graphics in the actual film. (Star Wars)
They can’t plan when they’re working will be featured in the film. They concept that they use to find their ideas are Pinterest and the environment around them, the design programmes that they use are Photoshop and Illustrator to create their simple graphics. After this they will start to use an animation programme like After Effects to create the final motion graphics, once this had been complete they then send it to another company to finalise their design using a programme known as Director. Finally, the motion graphic design piece is then deliver to the main client.
We were then shown an animation of Iron Man, I found that the animation allowed me to understand how the animation layers are used to build up the layers of Iron Man, which creates a figure and a detail piece of artwork. They also create a lot of 3D dimensional object using several programmes, the basic layout of the object was created using a wired frame, I think that using a wire frame would allow the design to be created in a professional that looks like the object that the designer is trying to create.

They used a few on screen graphics that were displayed within the film that were created by Territory Studios, I think that the graphics that were created for the film were very interesting different to the types of graphics that I have seen for others films that I have seen. The detail of the graphics very high quality, as I think high quality and very detail graphics will interest the target audience well. We then looked at a robot in which they had created for Ikea, I found that this was very interesting, as it was very different to other designs that they had already produced. The company doesn’t just work on films, they work on all types of things for example brands and video games, such as Forza…. (car game)
The company has also worked on the new release called the Martian I thought that the graphics that they had produced for this film were varied as some of the graphics that they had produced were quite simple and basic, however some of the graphics that they had created for the film was very detail, which became more interesting as the colours and detail of the graphics work very well together. Whilst on the project they spent a lot of time to create the graphics, as they wanted the designs to be perfect for the film that they had been commissioned to design their graphics for. Whilst working on this film they got to work with the costume department.
We then watched a short clip that I found was very creative, as the graphics that had been created for the clip were good and well detail, I found that the music for the clip was very dramatic but allowed me to be drawn into the clip even more. I found that clip reminded me of an opening title to a film that was just being released. Within their work they use lots of pattern and swirls, as you can notice this by the style that they use within their design work. They have also created their own typeface, which I think is very well done, as the designs are very interesting, bold and easy to read. When then watched another clip that explained to us how the clip that we had just watched had been created. The programmes that were used to create the animation were Illustrator and After Effects. I think that the film was very well presented because it as a designer I was able to understand how the animation was created. I found that the type face that had been created for the animation was very creative and detailed, however it was easy to read and understand, which I thought was very important when creating a typeface for the animation.
